Lansing area photographs, 1917-ca. 1930.

MS 2002-10 consists of photographs documenting Lansing, Michigan, covering the years 1917-ca. 1930. The photographs are black and white snapshots, capturing images of people, buildings, and street scenes. Most images measure 2" x 3" or 3" x 4". There are a number of photographs documenting the 119th and 32nd divisions as they paraded in Lansing on May 13, 1919. The collection includes a snapshot of Harry Gardiner (the human fly) placing a flag on the capitol dome in Lansing on October 10, 1917. Another photograph is identified as Harry Brooks. This is an image of a young man standing next to an airplane (ca. 1920-1925). Research indicates that this may be an image of the Ford Motor Company chief test pilot who died off the coast of Florida in 1928. However, this is not conclusive. Lastly, the collection contains one photograph of a Civil War monument to the Ohio Volunteers (no place identification).
